Machadinho HPP is located on the Pelotas River in the municipality of Piratuba (SC). With its storage-based reservoir totaling 79 Km², the plant has three generator units with vertical turbines of the Francis type, each with a 380 MW output, totaling 1,140 MW of installed capacity, of which 403.88 MW represents ENGIE’s stake.
The hydroelectric power plant went into operation in 2002, its concession agreement expiring in 2032. Machadinho HPP is operated by the Machadinho Consortium in which ENGIE participates with a 19.3% share and has a 165.3 average MW of physical guarantee for commercialization.
The plant is certified according to ISO 9001 and 14001 quality management and environmental standards and the OHSAS 18001 occupational health and safety standard.
