Salto Osório HPP is located on the Iguaçu River in the municipality of São Jorge d‘Oeste (PR), with a 51 km2 run-of-river reservoir. The plant went into commercial operations in 1975 and its concession agreement expires in 2028.
The plant operates with four 182 MW units – modernized between 2005 and 2007 – and two generator units of 175 MW, currently in the process of being modernized, all with vertical turbines of the Francis type, totaling 1.078 MW. The plant has a physical guarantee of 502.6 average MW for commercialization.
The plant is certified according to ISO 9001 and 14001 quality management and environmental standards and the OHSAS 18001 occupational health and safety standard.
