São Salvador HPP is located on the Tocantins River in the municipality of Paranã (TO). With a run-of-river reservoir of 104 km², the plant went into operation in 2009. Its concession agreement expires in 2037.
The plant has an installed capacity of 243.2 MW, operates two generator units with vertical turbines of the Kaplan type and a 121.6 MW output from each. It has a physical guarantee of 148.2 average MW for commercialization.
São Salvador HPP is certified according to ISO 9001 and 14001 quality management and environmental standards and the OHSAS 18001 occupational health and safety standard.
In 2011, the Company began operating the plant remotely from the control room at Salto Santiago HPP and in 2017, this control was transferred to the Generation Operations Center (COG), located at ENGIE’s head office in Florianópolis (SC).
