As required by its various activities – services and energy generation and transmission –, ENGIE embraces a sustainable growth model and pays attention to the challenges of energy transition and of a low-carbon economy with improved access to renewable energy, mitigation of and adaptation to climate change, and the rational use of natural resources. It assesses potential environmental impacts to preserve environmental reserves and support conservation areas. At the same time, as permitted and necessary, ENGIE relies on methods and techniques that enable it to cause the least possible impact on natural resources, and to use them in the exact measure to save them for various current or future applications. This conservation, depending on the activity and required environmental impact studies, takes place by avoiding, minimizing or offsetting impacts, always in compliance with the law and with the necessary stakeholder outreach. In Brazil, ENGIE invests increasingly in renewable sources both distributed, by means of photovoltaic solar energy, and centralized, with wind farms, biomass, solar and hydro power. The plants in ENGIE’s generation complex are equipped with instrumentation and control systems for air, soil and water quality, and all implementation, operation and maintenance activities abide by strict environmental management standards – so that 85% of the plants’ total installed capacity have been certified according to the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 quality and environment management standards and the OHSAS 18001, occupational health and safety standard.

ENGIE is a pioneer in distributed large-scale photovoltaic generation in Brazil, with products that can adapt to every purpose.
